Things to do in Las Vegas
We have been in Las Vegas twice, in 2010 and in 2014. Both times we stopped there for a very short time, but I cannot really say we got bored!
Las Vegas is known as “Sin City”, because it offers a lot of activities that are considered transgressive, first of all gambling.
If you like gambling, you are in the right place: there are a lot of hotels, each one one with its own casinos where you can have a lot of fun!
Remember that while you are busy at the tables or slot machines, there will be some waitress ready to serve you drinks (alcoholic or soft), in exchange of a small tip.
In some casinos, they even provide you with cigarettes so that you do not stop playing your game.
But if you don’t like gambling, you will find a lot of things to do in Las Vegas. For example you can have a walk on the Strip, the main street, full of shops, hotels, casinos, restaurants. And there are also a lot of strange characters that ask you only 1 dollar to take a photo of them.
You can’t absolutely miss a stop in front of Bellagio Hotel, where you can see the water games of its fountains moving at the music rhythm. We loved them a lot and we stopped there several times.
In front of the Mirage, instead, you will find a volcano that erupts at the hour with sound and light effects. A little kitsch, but this is Las vegas, too.
Another thing you can do and enjoy in Las Vegas is the visit to some hotels; most of them are inspired to a particular theme and some are so very beautiful they are worth a visit.
The ones we liked best are Caesar’s Palace, inspired to ancient Rome, and the Venetian, that is a very accurate reproduction of Venice.
But there are many others, for example the Paris Las Vegas that boasts a nice Eiffel Tower and the Luxor, which is shaped like a huge black marble pyramid.
At the New York, you shouldn’t miss a tour on its rollercoaster, which is really shocking… so if you are not really strong, let it go, don’t try it! And, finally, if you are really brave, you can go to the Stratosphere and make a tour on the Insanity: you are suspended in the void while you swirl around! It is not an activity for Adventus Grannies, so we didn’t do it!
A trip you should really do from Las Vegas is the visit to the Hoover Dam. It is about 56 Km and it is just on the border between the two states of Nevada and Arizona, on the Colorado River. Even if it has lost the title of biggest dam in the States, it is still a very huge structure and it worths a visit!
As far as prices are concerned, Las Vegas is not a very expensive city, nay, on week days hotel rooms are rather cheap. But their price increases at the week end, when lots of Americans rush to Las Vegas looking for every kind of entertainment. So, if you are staying in Sin City, you can easily afford a nice suite without spending a fortune!
Personally, i loved this city very much, and the things you can do there are quite a lot, it’s impossible to list all of them, but certainly you will find the right one for you!
